In Österreich ist der Hauptteil der Bevölkerung röm. Katholisch, weshalb wir die Geburt Christi feiern. Es ist Tradition eine Tanne, oder auch eine Fichte, in die Wohnung zu stellen und diese mit Christbaumkugeln und Kerzen zu schmücken. Die Familie und Freunde sitzen zusammen und singen  Weihnachtslieder. Außerdem  beschenkt man sich gegenseitig. Anschließend gibt es ein großes Fest Mal. Es ist auch üblich zu Weihnachten in die Kirche zu gehen um die Geburt des Messias zu feiern.

The main part of the Austrian population is Roman Catholic, wherefore we celebrate birth of Jesus Christ. It is tradition to put a fir tree or a spruce into the flat or houses and decorate these with Christmas balls and candles. The family and friends are sitting together and sing Christmas songs. Moreover everybody makes presents to each other. Then they eat together. It is also common to visit the church to celebrate the childbirth of Christ.

In Saudi-Arabien gehört die Bevölkerung dem Islam an. Die Moslems feiern kein Weihnachten, aber sie feiern 2 Feste. Erstens, das Opferfest, dass die Wallfahrt nach Mekka ist. Das größte Fest ist das Zuckerfest und findet immer nach dem Fastenmonat „Ramadan“ statt. Es ist ein islamischer Feiertag und ist das Fest des Fastenbrechens. Es dauert meistens 3 Tage und man geht in die Moschee und die besucht die Verwandtschaft. Dieses Jahr war das Fest am 28. August.

In Saudi Arabia, the population belongs to the religion Islam. The Muslims do not celebrate Christmas, but they celebrate two festivals. Firstly, there’s the festival of sacrifice that the pilgrimage to Mecca is. The biggest festival is the Sugar Festival and is always celebrated after the fasting month "Ramadan". It is a Muslim holiday and the festival of breaking the fast. It usually takes 3 days and the people go to the mosque and they are visiting relatives. This year the festival was on 28 August 2012.

Oft fehlt es den Leuten aus Saudi Arabien an Interesse, alte und kulturelle Gebäude aufrecht zu erhalten. Stattdessen werden ständig moderne Gebäude und Einkaufscentren erbaut. Reiche Leute bauen Betonbauten an den Stadträndern, ärmere Leute leben nach wie vor in sehr heruntergekommenen Bauten. Die Araber verzieren ihre Gebäude gerne mit lieblichen Holzmustern. 

Generally speaking, the people of Saudi Arabia aren´t very much interested in old buildings which means they don´t take care of them. Whereas new buildings are constantly new build. Rich people use to buy buildings of concrete in contrast to poor people who are still living in uncomfortable houses. Moreover, they are always building new shopping centers. When it comes to decorating a building they use loads wood material.

Die Wohnhäuser in Österreich sind wärmedämmend  gebaut. Das bedeutet, dass es im Haus mit geringem Aufwand warm ist. Diese Art zu bauen spart auch viele Heizkosten. Natürlich lässt das Haus auch keine Kälte von draußen nach drinnen. An heißen Sommertagen ist es möglich, durch das Verdunkeln der Fenster, innen angenehm kühl zu machen.

Das typische Österreichische Haus hat, wie man auf der Abbildung sieht, eine Holzummantelung mit Balkon, einen Kamin und ein 3 Eckförmiges Dach. 

The houses are heat insulating in Austria. That mean, that it is warm inside of the houses. This type of building saves a lot of heating costs. On the other hand no coldness can come inside of the house. On hot summer days it is possible to make it cooler inside of the house. You just have to darken the windows.
The typical Austrian house has a wood cable coating with balcony, a chimney a roof like a triangle, as it can be seen on the picture.

Knight and Day in Austria

Ein Teil der Actionkomödie „Knight and Day“ wurde im Jahr 2010 in Österreich gedreht. In Salzburg wurde der Teil des Films gedreht wo Roy Miller (Tom Cruise) und June Haven (Cameron Diaz) sich in einem Hotel versteckten, bis Roy sich auf dem Weg machte um die Batterie (unersättliche Energiequelle) zu verkaufen. June folgte ihm und traute ihren Augen nicht mehr als sie von dem Verrat ihres geliebten Geheimagenten erfuhr. Daraufhin verriet sie Roy an den amerikanischen Geheimdienst, wodurch es zu einer rasanten Verfolgungsjagd auf den Dächern von Salzburg kam.

A part of the action comedy „Knight and Day“ was filmed in Austria in 2010. In Salzburg was the part of the movie filmed, where Roy Miller (Tom Cruise) and June Havens (Cameron Diaz) have been hidden in a hotel, until Roy was making a deal to sell the battery (insatiable energy source). June was disappointed when she heard, what Roy wanted to do, so she called the American secret service. Because of this, Roy was hunted by the secret service over the roofs of the beautiful city.

Österreich befindet sich in der gemäßigten Klimazone und es herrscht warm bis kühl gemäßigtes Klima.

Frühling: Der Jänner ist der kälteste Monat in Österreich. Im Februar steigen die Temperaturen wieder an und im März kann es bis zu 13°C bekommen. Im April und Mai hat Österreich ungefähr 15°C bis 20°C.

Sommer: Allgemein kann man sagen, dass der Sommer in Österreich mild bis heiß ist. Im Juni können die Temperaturen bis zu 20 bis 25°C hinaufklettern und im Juli sogar bis zu 30, wenn nicht sogar 35°C. Der August wird wieder milder und es gibt eine hohe Luftfeuchtigkeit.

Herbst: Der Herbst kann mild und warm sein, mit Temperaturen bis zu 20°C. Im November aber kommt es zu kalten Temperaturen.

Winter: In Österreich ist der Winter sehr kalt. Im Norden und Süden gehen die Temperatur fast nie über 10°C. Außerdem gibt es öfters viel Schnee in Österreich, besonders in den Bergen.

Saudi-Arabien gilt als eines der heißesten und auch trockensten Länder der Welt. Dies wirkt sich auch auf die vorhandene Flora und Fauna aus. Saudi-Arabien ist ein klassischer Wüstenstaat, der zum größten aus Hochlandflächen besteht. Es gibt sehr wenig Niederschlag, allerdings sind Sandstürme sehr häufig.

Im Winter herrscht ein feuchtheißes Klima  mit Temperaturen zwischen 20 und 30°C. Große Unterschiede zwischen den Jahreszeiten gibt es in Saudi Arabien jedoch nicht.

Dem Rest des Jahres kann die Temperatur bis zu 50°C ansteigen.

Es gibt starke Temperaturschwankungen zwischen Tag und Nacht.

Saudi Arabia is one of the hottest and driest countries in the world. The results are also seen in flora and fauna of this country.  Saudi Arabia is a typical desert state, which causes loads of sand storms.

When it comes to the weather, there aren´t loads of differences between the seasons of the year. The only thing to mention, is the fact, that it rain more in the winter months than in the summer months and the temperatures in winter are between 20 and 30 degrees.

In the rest of the year the temperature can increase up to 50 degrees.

There are high temperature changes between day and night.
